Dressage instruction

Instructor Jane Sommers, a lifelong rider, began riding dressage in 1984 and has taught dressage since 1994. She relies on her extensive and varied background in many disciplines to make lessons rewarding and fun. Jane follows the USDF training scale, focussing on the classical seat and aids, to develop a sound foundation upon which to build ever greater skills. Her emphasis is on rider communication and a better understanding of what the horse can achieve.

Colt Starting and Young Horse Training

Kelsey Morris uses Natural Horsemanship methods to develop each horse in a gentle and positive manner. She focusses on developing willingness and confidence, helping the horse to achieve its physical and emotional potential and become a true partner with its rider. Training programs are individually tailored to carefully prepare each young horse for its future career, allowing the horse to easily finish in any discipline, whether in the show ring or on the trail (or both!). Kelsey also works with the horse's owner in order to create the best team possible.

Kelsey began her career with Morgan horses and has worked with many reknowned trainers and showmen, including Eitan Beth-Halachmy, the originator of Cowboy Dressage. She has been training at Serpentine Farm since mid 2009. Contact Kelsey at (530) 798-1036 to inquire about training rates and packages.
